🚨 STAFFORDSHIRE POLICE SMART ALERT – INCREASE IN BURGLARY DWELLINGS 🚨 |
||
|
Staffordshire Police would like to notify residents of a recent increase in burglary dwelling offences within the local area. Our enquiries have identified that a number of these incidents are linked to the theft of motor vehicles from residential driveways. In many cases, suspects are targeting vehicles parked outside homes and then using keys or access gained during the offence to steal the vehicle, or vice versa. We are actively investigating these incidents and carrying out increased patrols. We ask all residents to remain vigilant and take the following precautions to help protect your property and vehicles. 🔒 Crime Prevention AdviceVehicle Security Always lock your vehicle and ensure all windows are fully closed. Do not leave keys, spare keys, or keyless fobs inside the vehicle. Store keys away from doors, windows, and letterboxes. Consider using a steering wheel lock or additional physical security device. For keyless vehicles, use a Faraday pouch to prevent signal theft. Home Security Ensure all doors and windows are locked, even when you are at home. Keep valuables, including car keys, out of sight and away from entry points. Install and maintain CCTV, video doorbells, or alarm systems where possible. Use timer switches on lights to give the impression the property is occupied. Ensure side gates and outbuildings are secured. General Vigilance Be aware of suspicious persons or vehicles in your neighbourhood, particularly those checking door handles or driveways. Report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency or if a crime is in progress. If you have CCTV or doorbell footage that may assist, please come forward. 🤝 Working TogetherWe rely on the support of the community to help prevent crime. By staying alert and following the above advice, you can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim. If you have any information relating to recent incidents, please contact Staffordshire Police quoting the relevant incident number, or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Thank you for your continued support. | ||
